May 27th, 2012

We’re going to break with habit here and post today. Mama has been tired out from work, so she hasn’t felt like posting for my brother Marlowe or me. But tonight we decided to write!
I was going to tell you all about the clothes she’s made for me, and the progress on my bedroom. But Mama said that maybe I ought to write about my new neighbors!

This is Raven! He came all the way from Korea to live next to me. He is very excitable and loves to wander around the room when Mama’s not here. He is a Lati White Laches Special. We had been waiting for his arrival for a long time. It’s made Mama very happy that he finally showed up. He tells me that he’s pixie like Miranda. You should see his little ears!

We get along all right. I’m glad that I have my own room though. He likes to talk and talk and talk and talk! I’m considering asking Mama if she can move my room to another place that he can’t reach without help!

To help Mama keep track of Raven, we found ourselves a new friend. Her name is Lark! Mama is letting her settle in for a while before they see what she wants to do. Mama mentioned something about her teaching us things, which I’m not so sure I like! But Mama says learning is very important, and I like to read! I guess it could be worse!
I promise I will update more often! We’re going to ponder about everything we want to share and organize our pictures!

March 15th, 2012

Progress on my rooms has been made.

I have a bathroom now. It is pink, and I am glad to have my very own bathtub. When I lived by myself, I had to take a bath in the stream, and it was always cold! Mama showed me how to run the hot water on!

I also have more furniture now. The bed is very nice and comfy. I like the books. Mama and Marlowe both say that there are lots of books around here and I can read all of them. Marlowe says that he will help me pick the books up and turn the pages! There are only a few of them that I could pick up by myself!

Mama also bought me this. It is a string bass that is my size. Mama plays the string bass, and she says that she is going to show me how. With Marlowe and the other big people around here, she could never find one the right size! She says I am the right size for this one!

March 1st, 2012

Since I was used to having my own home, Mama said that she would make a room for me.

My new friends, Marlowe, Tilia, and Jacoby waited with me as Mama got ready to make me my room. This is white foam board that she bought at Hobby Lobby. Making it out of this stuff allows Mama to do it all by herself!

This is what it ended up looking like. I think it looks pretty spiffy! Mama was going to put a ceiling on it, but then decided that it make it look too dark!

This is my bed that she made me, along with a place to put things. She is going to put a wall in the middle, but we need to buy more foam board!

To be continued!

February 13th, 2012

Mama and I have decided that my blog will be in two different places. Mama and Marlowe have been blogging on blogspot for a long time. This is what they understand. It will also be on Wordpress, because Mama wants to try that. These posts will look like Marlowe wrote them, while the Wordpress ones will have my name.

So we went up the stairs to where Adelaide’s mom and friends were waiting.

I was kind of worried, but I just had a feeling. Marlowe wrapped me up in his robe, and I was feeling better already.

I told them my story, and they all seemed to really care. They were all ready to bring me back home, but when I said that I didn’t know where that was, Mama said that I could stay with them! I had unknowingly come to the right place! They explained to me that there were all sorts of creatures living at their house and I was welcome to come and live there too!

February 9th, 2012

I've decided that I ought to stop stealing my brother Marlowe's blog and start one of my own. Now I can talk about my life without feeling guilty about taking his blogging time.

My name is Wren Arriety Book, and I'm a Borrower-- yes, a Borrower from those books. I used to live in the woods far away. One day I was out to get water from the pond and a big mean crow picked me up! I think he was going to eat me! I used all my strength and pulled a feather out! He dropped me and I ran away. I ran under a big bush and waited until he went away.

I started crying. I didn't know what to do! I never walked very far away from my home, so I didn't know what to do! How far away did he take me? Where was my home? Suddenly I heard talking.

"Hello, little girl," the voice said. I looked up and saw a big girl! "I won't hurt you," she said soothingly. "My name's Adelaide," she said, smiling.

"I'm Wren," I told her. "Where am I?" I plopped back down on the ground. "A crow brought me here. I've never been away from home!"

"It's okay," she said. "This is my house," she said, pointing behind her to a huge house. "I live here with my Mama and a lot of my friends." She reached down and held her hand out. "Mama will know what to do," she said. "You want me to bring you up to her?" I nodded, and climbed up her arm.
